Hyperledger

Hyperledger is one of the most popular DLT platforms for Enterprises besides Corda. It was founded in 2015 by the Linux Foundation and is a project of several open source Blockchains, including the Private Blockchain Hyperledger Fabric, a business platform for private transactions and confidential contracts. It is based on the peer-to-peer system and a distributed data storage. Smart contracts are created within Hyperledger Fabric and can be accessed by other applications outside the Blockchain [2].

In contrast to Bitcoin, Hyperledger might be more powerful and have more functionalities regarding consensus mechanisms. There is no need for internal encryption, since security and trust is guaranteed by applied Practical Byzantine Fault Tolerance. Thus, a communication between all nodes takes place to check and verify the transactions without a further central authority [3].
